This is the tightest post-arrival deadline of any country in our current coverage. Italian law counts 8 calendar days from your entry stamp. Miss it and your permesso file is technically irregular from day one — the fastest way to break the rest of the process (bank account, tax ID, SPID).
- 1Codice fiscale — get FIRST, at your local Agenzia delle Entrate. Nothing else moves without it.
- 2Collect the Permesso di Soggiorno postal kit ('kit giallo') at any Poste Italiane branch offering the Sportello Amico counter.
- 3Fill the kit, pay the postal & permit fees, mail it from the same branch. You get a paper receipt with your Questura appointment date.
- 4Attend the Questura appointment on the given date with biometrics.

Kits are available at any Poste Italiane branch offering the 'Sportello Amico' counter. Search for your local branch, then take passport + entry stamp + admission letter + housing proof + 4 recent photos.
